First things first; you’ve got to know the rules of recruiting!

When can college coaches contact you?

After your sophomore year, NCAA DI and DII coaches can start reaching on on June 15th. This is usually comprised of emails, phone calls, texts, or even extending a verbal offer.

NCAA DI rules:

No contact can be made in a recruiting manner until June 15th of after your sophomore year of HS. Official and un-official visits can start August 1st of your junior year.

NCAA DII rules:

One of the main differences for DII recruiting is you can go on unofficial visits anytime and official visits can begin on August 1st of your junior year.

NCAA DIII rules:

With no official athletic scholarships at DIII, they have the most relaxed recruiting rules. Official visits for DII schools can start January 1st of your junior year.

NAIA rules:

The NAIA has the least rules when it comes to recruiting but the majority of coaches follow the DI or DII recruiting calendars.
